This weekend was “Easy Street” for walk mileage! On Saturday we walked 8 miles and Sunday just 6! It is almost funny to hear us talk about “just” 6 miles. Thanks to our rigorous training schedule, 6 or 8 miles are now “short” walks.

On Saturday we met at 6 AM at Bayfront Park and again crossed the Ringling Bridge – but this time is was still dark and we didn’t mind a bit. In fact, when we reached Ken Thompson Park, mile 4 and our turn-around spot, the sun was just rising over Sarasota Bay.

It was very invigorating to walk in the early dawn hours and even though we finished the last 4 miles in the sun, there was a wonderful breeze as we crossed the bridge on our way back.

Todd, Jennifer’s husband, was our Pit Crew today. As always, we are so grateful to the wonderful family members and friends who volunteer to do this act of kindness for us. Even after just 4 miles, food and cold drinks are a very welcome sight.

On Sunday we started at Bayfront at 6 AM again. This time we walked south to Einstein Bagels. Mike, Amy’s friend, volunteered to do crew work today. And after “just” 3 miles we enjoyed meeting him at our Pit Stop.

We were all headed home before 9 AM. Most of our families were just waking up. They don’t know what they’re missing!
